RSK Radiological operates an integrated Safety, Health and Environmental and Quality management system (SHEQMS), which is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

Behavioural performance and safety

RSK Group is the only UK environmental consultancy that operates a formal human performance programme.

Seamlessly integrating with the existing safety, health, environment and quality management system (SHEQMS), the initiative aims to establish a continuously improving culture of behaviour-based human performance across the RSK Group.

Uniquely, RSK Group’s approach will incorporate both human and environmental factors, protecting the employee from the environment and the environment from the employee.

Human performance training can be delivered as an external training service.

Technical innovation and communication of lessons learnt

RSK Group has established “centres of excellence” for communication of
technical innovations that enhance the cost-effectiveness and safety of
our service provision.

Key innovation areas include:

• Remediation technology: we have undertaken several EU-sponsored development studies to prove the application of in situ remedial techniques
• GIS and hazard mapping: Our subsidiary RSK Orbital has developed key tools designed to enhance data management and hazard mapping for linear and other large infrastructure projects
  
• Safety during drilling operations: RSK Group installs over 10,000 boreholes per year. Our greatest risk after driver safety is hitting buried utilities.
  

In response to lessons learnt, RSK has developed the vacuum excavation technique and introduced it to its UK operations.
